Summer Trash

The students are gone. Might that be the reason for not so much trash on the road? It also rains a lot. Maybe people don't open their window to throw things out? We don't know, but here are the results of the last two weeks:

Also interesting, that we found our first selection of condoms :-)

Rainy weather - less trash?

Might be true - as soon as it rains constantly (like it does) our little litter bugs don't open the car window to throw out their trash. Only two bags we could fill! That's the smallest amount since we started documenting.
But a nice Lady offered to take one bag to her trash can at home with her pickup truck, which was nice. And two other ladies said thank you, too. So all in all a nice day ;-)

Springtime Trash

It was quite a scene out there - lots of fresh trash aside the road.

So all in all we collected 4 bags - of stuff we could see in the exploding vegetation and of course reach easily.

We were expecting a huge Foxfield mess...

...but it wasn't too bad. We didn't have enough time either to walk the complete stretch, so this is only the result from the start of Old Ballard at Owensville Rd to the bridge.

New findings

We went out April 10 but I forgot to post it. Here are our collected results.

And we went out yesterday to pick up only new stuff. nature is already exploding, so there's no chance to find older trash. But the amount of new trash is pretty amazing, it has been only two weeks ago. The wet white bag with the box was down in the creek. Luckily we had our grabbers, so we could easily retrieve it.

8 more bags and other "goodies"

We still found a lot of old trash and of course a good amount of mandatory new beer cans and bottles. We also discovered an old gas can and a tire deep down on a hill at the side of the road.

What can we say?

Since weeks I think "Now we've got it, all the old stuff is picked up" but when we start our walk we discover still more old trash along the road, like there is no end to it.

This one we fished out of the creek:

Beer bottle collection. Definitely the favorite beverage on Old Ballard Road:

Very old trash here:

And more

Then we discovered a nest of beer cans up in the woods:

And here a nice little collection of our findings:

Last bag before the rain started:

We started our walk around 9:30 AM and got home at probably 12:30 PM. Around 3:30 my husband went to pick up the bags with his car and discovered a fresh Chipotle bag on the side of the road. It even had a receipt in it.The litterbug of the day is the owner of the Visa card with the last four digits 4722. Congratulations!

And by the way: One of our biggest supporters gifted us these cool jackets:
