February Update

The second Sunday in February was freezing cold. We went out there with ski gloves and insulated pants, but it was too cold to take any pictures. So here's the result sitting in our warm garage.


The following Sunday was very wet. It rained so much that we actually stayed home. But February 28 was the day to go! A perfect sunny day!

 We only made it half way to the end of Old Ballard Road, because we got sidetracked by the little creek on the left hand side. There was a spot that annoyed us for weeks where a lot of old tree trunks and branches got caught on a big tree. All the debris got stuck there and the fertilizers in the water ended up in this ugly carpet of foam. We stopped and removed all trunks and sticks so that the water could flow without any gunk sitting on top. This took an hour. Here is the little creek foam free:


We turned around and went back home, but stopped at the lower wetlands on the left hand side and cleared them out.  All in all our collection was quite impressive again:

There is a lot more our there...

The melted snow pressed down all the vegetation and we found a lot more trash than we've been prepared for. We filled all our plastic bags and found even more. All in all we filled three construction bags! We also met John, a Professor for immunology, and had a nice talk with him. Here are our results:
